Make Innovate Create

Posted on 10 February 2014

The AMRC added a new challenge to the competition at the apprentice open evening.  As well as building and racing a car, this time the teams had to design a plane and use the cars to race it to the launching ramp.  The winner was chosen based on a number of factors, including distance flown and propulsion method used, with extra points being added for green and lightweight designs of both the car and the plane.

The winning design from "Team W" not only flew the furthest, but also had the lowest amount of embedded carbon in the material chosen and in the propulsion method used.

The event was used to explain the concepts behind a number of European funded projects, focussed on sustainable manufacturing.
