REFORM visits Azimut|Benetti and sees first demonstrator prototypes

Posted on 22 November 2013

For their 2-year meeting, REFORM partners visited Azimut|Benetti to watch the construction of their demonstrator part, a boat ceiling.  Partners toured the facilities saw every aspect of the process from lay-up through to removal from the mould, assembly, machining and finishing.

During the meeting, the benchmarking methodology was demonstrated; this will allow us to quantify the cost and environmental benefits of REFORM technologies at the end of the project.

Partners also discussed the outcomes of the first clustering meeting held with other eco-factory clusters and discussed the next steps.

During the meeting, partners saw prototypes of two parts of the TEKS demonstrator.  The first was made usingFormtech's tape-laying technology, the second showed the benefits of jigless assembly and the use of primary recycled waste to make complex components.
