Preslab - ACCIONA

Preslab2Large.pngThe preslab has two main functions in the bridge building process. It constitutes a framework for pouring the concrete and it also forms the lower part of the floor, providing part of its reinforcement.

The preslab is made out of glass fibre (GF) and epoxy resin and is produced by the pultrusion process. Its application in bridges gives lighter structures at lower costs. Nevertheless some aspects related to the machining, assembly and recycling process can be improved. The technologies developed in REFORM will help ACCIONA to improve the overall lifecycle costs, allowing architects and engineers to face up to new challenges and create innovative structures.
